FMC library Rules

 F.M.C LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Leave personal belongings (handbags, purse, bags etc) at outside library shelves.
  • Eating, drinking, and smoking is strictly prohibited.
  • Cell phone use is not allowed inside the library. Using a flash drive is prohibited.
  • Users must maintain proper behaviour and decorum at all times.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to withdraw services to any member who violates these rules.
  • Library staff can inspect books & physical verification of library members in the library, if needed.
  • Maintain silence, except for brief and quiet communication with library staff.
  • Library furniture must not be moved/dragged from its designated place.
  • Do not place foot on chairs.
  • Writing, underlining, marking, folding, or tearing library materials is strictly prohibited.
  • Borrowers are responsible for any damage to books upon return & fine charged as per policy.
  • Requisition forms available for users for issuance of new books.

BORROWING LIBRARY MATERIALS

  • Only registered users will borrow library materials.
  • Reserved/Reference materials must be used within the library.
  • No books can be taken out unless properly issued.
  • All users must present their belongings for inspection upon exit.
  • Late returns will incur a fine for both faculty and students, in accordance with the policy below.
  • Books are loaned for a period of two weeks.
  • The Librarian reserves the right to recall books on loan.
  • Reference Books, Journals and serials will not be issued.

DAMAGE & LOSS OF LIBRARY MATERIALS

  • Users will pay a fine for any damage to library materials or property.
  • Lost items must be replaced at the user’s expense.
  • Recovered lost books remain the property of the library; replacement fees are non-refundable.

 LIBRARY FINE POLICY

Fine for Overdue Books:

  • Rs. 10/- per day for the first one month after the due date.
  • Rs. 50/- per day after one month until the book is returned.
  • This graduated fine system promotes responsible borrowing and reduces overdue returns.

WAIVER OF FINE

  • The Principal, FMC, may waive or reduce a fine in special cases, subject to genuine reasons duly endorsed by the Librarian.

DISPOSAL OF FINES

  • All fines collected under this policy shall be deposited into the Government Treasury as per rules.
